This generation has to escape this emotional epistemology. It’s tearing you apart and you don’t even realize it.
So true. Our emotions should NOT be in charge when it comes to what we regard as true. Our feelings are subject to change and can deceive us. Truth is that which corresponds to reality and propositions need to be logically coherent(what you believe has to make sense).
Also remember this: Emotions aren’t bad categorically, they just aren’t supposed to be in charge. When they’re put in their proper place, emotions can help your reason and intellect. You need to reason things out according to reality and not how you feel about reality, yet emotions can often signal you that you need to question something or think about it further. We think with our intellect, we feel with our heart. Your reason needs to be in charge. When you have a feeling… there may be good reason for it…. but you MUST use your mind to discover the reason you’re having that feeling. It may be a good reason or what you’re experiencing/feeling may just be something you need to ignore. DO NOT let your emotions rule you. This is extremely important for spiritual life as Christians and for life in general. Let God rule your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus by His Holy Spirit. There’s nothing wrong with having a ”heart” but God gave you reason and intellect. You have a brain, use it.
